Meta platforms outage
Seems like Meta sites, Facebook and Instagram are down for some people.
Mine is still working and I saw this in my feed:
If you’re experiencing difficulty with META platforms – DON’T PANIC! They are aware & working on fixing the issues.
And another one:
Meta platforms are down today and will affect many. If you can’t access your account don’t panic. It’ll right itself!
It’s like the old saying, “Don’t put all your eggs in one basket.”
From an article on Substack:
The collective influence of creators today is more powerful than BuzzFeed’s in the 2010s, and yet they are vulnerable to the exact same problems. They cannot afford to bet their future on platforms whose rules—and sometimes even existence—waver with the winds. – https://substack.com/@hamish
People are freaking out because those two Meta platforms have outage issues, and I guess the reason they’re freaking out is because those people have, and rely on, a business or creator page and would be losing engagement etc and so on.
Like this comment on another post:
Was wondering this because I have just lost 65 likes on my page overnight which is weird and dishearting this is the 3rd time this has happened to me so if you feel like a laugh or smile my page is super cute and would love some likes back
and if it’s happened to you I will support you back
That’s why a website is also an asset to have for your business, not just a single online space such as Facebook or Instagram.
One way to get something like that setup would be to create an account at Binary Lane (a VPS or virtual private server company in Australia), create a VPS, install WordPress and go, for like, $5.00 a month.
This way, you have control over your server, you have control over your platform, and you have control over your content. (See what happened to my FB Afford Apps page the other day.)
The Small Startup Business Toolkit is an online web application that will (when I launch it) have a landing page generator, web forms to capture email addresses, an email campaign manager, and a whole lot more – all designed to build your list, and your business.
It’s not all bad though – we can still have a laugh:
